Silver Jubilee

The aim to provide education to all led the Malad Kandivli Education Society to plant the seeds of college on 21st July, 1983. Then known as M.K.E.S. College, it was named as Nagindas Khandwala after its renowned patron in 1988. Initiated with only three classes of the Commerce section and housing 330 students, the college has grown in leaps and bounds in the last 25 years.
It was started by Malad Kandivli Education Society which has been rendering valuable services in the field of education to the residents of Malad and Kandivli for the past 60 years. The foundation stone of the College of Commerce and Arts was laid down by Hon’ble Shri Vasantdada Patil the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Friday, 6th June, 1984. The Naming Ceremony of Malad Kandivli Education Society’s College of Commerce and Arts as Nagindas Khandwala College of Commerce and Arts was performed by Hon’ble Shri Shankarrao Chavan, the then Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Thursday, 30th April, 1987.
The College started initially with a Commerce Stream by enrolling 330 students on July 23, 1983. Subsequently, it started the Arts Stream in 1988-89. At present, the strength of the students has increased to more than 6,500 students. This is real proof of the fact that we are committed to quality education, and are changing and improving with the changing times and needs of the field of education. With the vision of a shinning “Bhavishya Bharat”, we are expanding the courses offered within our premises.
In 2002, the college opted voluntarily for assessment and evaluation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body of UGC. The college created a breakthrough in the field of academics as it achieved the highest rating award of Five Stars and was the “only” Five Star accredited college in the western suburbs.
2007 has been a very remarkable year for Nagindas Khandwala college as the institute celebrated its Silver jubilee. The celebration was held on Saturday, 28th July, 2007 at Nagindas Khandwala College of Commerce, Arts & Management Studies and Shantaben Nagindas Khandwala College of Science, Malad.
