About
The Gujarati Sahitya Mandal (GSM) provides students with a vibrant platform to explore, learn, and celebrate Gujarati language, literature, traditions, and cultural heritage. Through intra-college competitions, intercollegiate festivals, language-learning programmes, cultural celebrations, film screenings, and traditional events, the Mandal encourages creativity, communication, cultural awareness, confidence, and meaningful student engagement.
Major Activities & Events
- Tahuko – Intra-College Event: Tahuko provides students with a platform to showcase their talents in the Gujarati language through competitions such as singing, one-minute extempore, poetry recitation, debate, and other creative performances. The event promotes self-expression, confidence, communication skills, creativity, and active student participation.
- Gurjar Vaani – In Collaboration with Gujarati Intellectual Movement: Gurjar Vaani is a language-learning initiative conducted in collaboration with the Gujarati Intellectual Movement (GIM). Through interactive lectures and learning sessions, students are taught Gujarati reading, writing, pronunciation, and traditional shlokas. The programme aims to preserve and promote the Gujarati language while strengthening students’ cultural, linguistic, and literary understanding.
- Kalrav – Annual Intercollegiate Fest: Kalrav is the annual intercollegiate festival organized by the Gujarati Sahitya Mandal. It brings together students from various colleges for competitions such as Mr. and Ms. Kalrav, doodling, dancing, best out of waste, quizzes, storytelling, and other creative events. The festival provides a platform for talent showcase, healthy competition, networking, creativity, and intercollegiate interaction.
Other Activities
- International Gujarati Day Celebration: International Gujarati Day is celebrated to honour the Gujarati language, literature, culture, and traditions. The celebration includes entertaining games, cultural activities, and interactive programmes that foster cultural pride, student participation, and a sense of togetherness.
- Film Screening: Film-screening sessions are organized to promote appreciation of Gujarati cinema, language, and culture. Students collectively watch a Gujarati film and participate in discussions where they share their views, interpretations, observations, and reflections.
- Rang Raas: Rang Raas is a cultural evening dedicated to the celebration of Garba. Students come together in the college auditorium to enjoy traditional music, dance, and festive activities, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm, unity, celebration, and cultural pride.
